Avery spotting Charlotte in this Paramount’s 1973 animated feature film

Avery Arable is the great brother of Fern and son to John and Mrs. Arable. He's an antagonist in some ways, and the supporting character in other ways. He is a 10-year-old boy. He is voiced by Danny Bonaduce in this Paramount’s 1973 animated feature film and is portrayed by Louis Corbett in this Paramount’s 2006 live-action remake.

Biography: Unlike his sister, Avery is less interested in animals. When Fern got to keep Wilbur as the pet, Avery wanted the pig too, which his dad turned down, claiming that only Fern could keep the pig because she was up at daylight, trying to rid the world of injustice.

He catches frogs, snakes and trout and even tries to capture Charlotte the spider, though he got punished for trying to harm Charlotte by being sent to bed without dinner. He gets stung by bees and wasps and brings frogs and snakes home, and breaks everything he lays his hands on, according to Mrs. Arable (when Dr. Dorian asks about Avery in this book). He goes to the fair and buys the frozen custard, the cheeseburger, and some raspberry soda pop in this book and this animated feature film.

In the movies, he also wanted the pig, but his dad said "No" and that only Fern could keep the pig. In the animated film, he is seen entering carrying the jar of flies after his sister runs outside crying, when she learns that Wilbur has to be sold and is no longer the pet. Avery goes to Homer Zuckerman's farm with Fern and tried to kill Charlotte the spider. In this live-action remake, he’s seen carrying the slingshot when he walks into the kitchen and sees his sister bottle feeding Wilbur. In this live-action remake, Avery doesn't catch frogs or snakes, but only tries to capture Charlotte the spider.

In "Miracles Do Happen", Avery Arable attacked Charlotte's three daughters — Joy, Aranea, and Nellie — resulting in Nellie getting stuck inside the garbage can and Avery destroying half of all the eggs and milk in the cargo while the Zuckermans and Arables are ready to evacuate from Maine and find the new home in Alaska.
